France, October 20, 2006 — Shearman & Sterling represented The AES Corporation ("AES") in its acquisition of a 40% interest in InnoVent SAS, a French wind farm developer with more than 600 megawatts of wind projects in development.  The deal was completed on October 20, 2006.

AES is one of the world's largest global power companies with 2005 revenues of $11 billion.  InnoVent is a privately held company founded in 2001 and a leading French wind farm developer.
