Stephan Hutter to Head European Capital Markets Practice from Frankfurt

Frankfurt/Main, December 3, 2007—Shearman & Sterling appointed Frankfurt-based partner Stephan Hutter Managing Partner Capital Markets Asia & Europe effective January 1, 2008. With the appointment of Hutter, who is currently Managing Partner of Shearman & Sterling’s Frankfurt office, the strategically important European Capital Markets practice with approximately 70 lawyers based in London, Paris, Rome and Frankfurt will for the first time be coordinated from Germany.

In 2007 the German Capital Markets Group of Shearman & Sterling has been involved in several high profile offerings, including Air Berlin (financing LTU acquisition), Alstria Office (first REIT), Hypo Real Estate (financing Depfa Bank acquisition), Premiere (financing German Bundesliga rights) and SGL Carbon (refinancing) with an aggregate transaction volume in excess of €5 billion.
