Interviewed by Philippe Coen (AFJE Board Member and Vice-President, Counsel of Walt Disney Company (Europe-Middle East) SAS), partner Emmanuel Gaillard discusses the legal theory of international arbitration and provides an overview of his theory of the three representations of international arbitration (transnational, Westphalian, and monolocalisation). This theory was elaborated in his book « Aspects philosophiques du droit de l'arbitrage international » [Legal Theory of International Arbitration], which was published in 2008 based on a Course he gave at The Hague Academy of International Law in the Summer of 2007 (in French).
