Shearman & Sterling is advising Abu Dhabi investment company Aabar Investments PJSC on Aabar's and Daimler AG's acquisition of a majority shareholding in Brawn GP, winner of the 2009 Formula 1 constructors' and drivers' championships.

Aabar and Daimler will together acquire 75.1% of the Brawn GP team. This shareholding will be split on a 60/40 ownership basis between Daimler and Aabar (Daimler holding 45.1% and Aabar holding 30%). The balancing 24.9% stake will remain with the current owners. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals in Switzerland and the EU.

The Shearman & Sterling team is being led by partners Georg Thoma (Dusseldorf), Thomas Koenig (Frankfurt) and Laurence Levy (London). The team also includes London partners Iain Scoon, Matthew Readings and Clare Breeze, London counsel Sam Whitaker, Deborah Lincoln and Mehran Massih, and associates Lucy Graham, Tom Lewis, Antonia Horrocks, James Leslie, Dan Feldman, Sarah Shirley, Will Smith and Suzanne Szczetnikowicz.
