New York, December 28, 2006 – Shearman & Sterling advised BG Group plc in its agreement to acquire Lake Road Generating Company, LP for $685 million.  The transaction is subject to various regulatory approvals and is expected to close during the first quarter of 2007.

BG Group plc is a global natural gas business that operates in over 25 countries on five continents.  It operates four businesses – Exploration and Production, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Transmission and Distribution and Power.  Lake Road owns an 805MW gas and oil fired combined cycle electrical generation facility located in Dayville, Connecticut.
