Frankfurt/Main, November 30, 2007—Shearman & Sterling advised International Chemical Investors Group (ICIG) on the acquisition of AstraZeneca´s site in Plankstadt (Baden-Württemberg).
The transaction is inter alia subject to customary antitrust approvals.
The site shall be transferred to ICIG on January 1 or on February 1, 2008 at the latest. With this acquisition, a closure of the site shall be averted.
ICIG is a private investment company focusing on mid-sized chemical businesses, preferably subsidiaries of large chemical corporations.
The Shearman & Sterling team advising ICIG on the transaction included partners Esther Jansen (FR-MA), Johannes Frey (FR-TX), Hans Jürgen Meyer-Lindemann (DS-AT) and the associates Alexander Schiel (FR-MA), Nadia Esken (DS-AT) and Emi Landan (LO-MA).
Shearman & Sterling advised ICIG in several past transactions, including the acquisition of Miltitz Aroma Chemicals, the acquisition of the custom manufacturing business of Clariant, the acquisition of two Cambrex divisions, the acquisition of a manufacturing facility of Albemarle in Thann, France, as well as on the sale of CarboTech Engineering.
