Shearman & Sterling has advised long-time client New England Sports Ventures on its successful acquisition of Liverpool Football Club.

New England Sports Ventures owns a range of companies, including US baseball team the Boston Red Sox as well as Fenway Sports Group and Roush Fenway Racing. Shearman & Sterling advised New England Sports Ventures when it bought Roush Racing, a NASCAR motor racing team, in 2007. The firm also acted for John W. Henry and New England Sports Ventures when they bought the Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park and New England Sports Network back in 2002.
