Shearman & Sterling Advises Siemens in UGS Acquisition

New York, January 25, 2007 – Shearman & Sterling is representing Siemens AG in its $3.5 billion acquisition of UGS Corp. from private equity firms Bain Capital, Silver Lake Partners and Warburg Pincus.

Siemens, headquartered in Berlin and Munich, is one of the world's largest electrical engineering and electronics companies and provides innovative technologies and comprehensive know-how to customers in 190 countries. 

UGS is headquartered in Plano, Texas and is a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services with 4.3 million licensed seats and 46,000 customers worldwide.  UGS was purchased by the private equity firms in 2004 for nearly $2 billion.
