New York, April 3, 2007 - Shearman & Sterling announced today that the People’s Republic of China has granted the firm permission to open an office in Shanghai.
Renovations are currently underway for the new office, which is located near the redeveloped historic district of Xin Tian Di, and are expected to be completed later this spring.
With offices currently in Beijing and Hong Kong, the new office brings the number of locations to three that will now service the firm’s growing business demands in China. Andrew Ruff, who has been managing the firm's temporary office in Shanghai since last October, will be the Chief Representative and Managing Partner of the new office.
