Shearman & Sterling advised ContourGlobal in connection with the sale to International Finance Corporation of a minority interest in a 100 MW thermal power plant in Togo, West Africa, a project expected to be operational in July 2010 and designed to ensure long-term energy security in Togo and the greater West African region. Shearman & Sterling previously represented ContourGlobal on the EPC, O&M and financing aspects of the project, which earned recognition as "African Private Power Deal of the Year" (2009) by Project Finance.
