Shearman & Sterling Advises ContourGlobal on Sale of Interest in West African Power Project to IFC

Shearman & Sterling advised ContourGlobal in connection with the sale to International Finance Corporation of a minority interest in a 100 MW thermal power plant in Togo, West Africa, a project expected to be operational in July 2010 and designed to ensure long-term energy security in Togo and the greater West African region. Shearman & Sterling previously represented ContourGlobal on the EPC, O&M and financing aspects of the project, which earned recognition as "African Private Power Deal of the Year" (2009) by Project Finance.

Shearman & Sterling attorneys involved in the transaction included partner Howard M. Steinberg (New York-Project Development & Finance) and associate John Paul Huntington Vigman (New York-Project Development & Finance).
