The Financial Institutions Advisory team in London advised The National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) on the establishment of its new joint business venture with Complinet. NASD is the world's leading private-sector provider of financial regulatory services, and Complinet is the market-leading publisher of regulatory information and a provider of compliance services to the international financial services industry. The two companies have jointly set up a comprehensive global database of companies and individuals who are regulated by various authorities, to allow those interested in going into business with them to perform checks relating to money laundering and other regulated activities. NASD is leading the US side of the database, and Complinet is leading the UK and European activities.
The team that advised NASD was led by partner Barney Reynolds and associate Thomas Donegan (LO-BF); the team included partner Iain Scoon and associate Will Smith (LO-TX) and associate Deborah Lincoln (LO-MA), who advised on intellectual property issues.
