Shearman & Sterling counseled Viacom Inc. in its sale of DreamWorks Studio’s film library to an investment group that included Soros Strategic Partners LP and Dune Entertainment II LLC. The $900 million deal completes the second phase of Viacom’s acquisition of DreamWorks LLC, announced last December, on which Shearman & Sterling also advised.
DreamWorks’ film library comprises 59 features, including best picture winners “Gladiator” and “American Beauty.” The deal is expected to close in April and is subject to customary conditions.
