Yu-Jin Tay

Singapore, April 30, 2008—Yu-Jin Tay has been appointed counsel to the firm, with overall responsibility for the development of the firm’s international arbitration practice across Asia. Based in Singapore, Yu-Jin is widely recognised as one of the leading arbitration practitioners in the region. After admission as a barrister and pupillage in London’s Fountain Court Chambers in 1998, Yu-Jin has practiced in Singapore, France and the United States. He represents parties in international arbitrations in Asia and around the world, with special focus on large and complex corporate, construction, energy and investment treaty disputes.

Since joining Shearman & Sterling in 2001, Yu-Jin has worked closely with partner John Savage to establish from scratch the region’s market leading international arbitration practice. In their recently published 2008 edition, Asia Pacific Legal 500 named the group as the only “Top Tier Firm for International Arbitration in Singapore”, as well as a “Leading Firm for Dispute Resolution in China”. Chambers Asia ranks the group as one of only two top tier law firms for international arbitration Asia-wide. Yu-Jin is also listed in the Euromoney Guide to the World’s Leading Experts in Commercial Arbitration (2006 & 2007).
