Practice
Daniel C. Glazer is counsel in the Intellectual Property Group at Shearman & Sterling. His practice encompasses all aspects of intellectual property and technology law, focusing on the intellectual property aspects of corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and secured transactions; patent and software licensing; technology services and development agreements; sponsorship, marketing, franchise and distribution arrangements; publishing, film and other media-related agreements; and trademark and copyright licensing, prosecution, counseling and enforcement. He regularly publishes and lectures on intellectual property issues in a variety of contexts and is a Senior Editor of The Trademark Reporter.
Mr. Glazer also is a member of the Sports Group. He has published numerous articles on sports law topics (including in The Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune and The Seton Hall Journal of Sport Law), appears frequently in the national media as a commentator on legal issues in professional and college sports, and has been profiled in the New York Law Journal regarding his activities in the field.
Mr. Glazer has been recommended by Legal 500 U.S. in the categories of IP in Complex Corporate Transactions and Sports.

- Cadbury plc in connection with various M&A transactions, including its acquisition of the Adams confectionery business of Pfizer Inc. and the demerger of its North American beverages business
- Viacom Ventures Inc. in connection with its acquisition of an interest in Action Sports Tour, LLC
- The Dow Chemical Company in connection with various mergers and acquisitions transactions, including its agreement to acquire Rohm & Haas Company and its memorandum of understanding with Petrochemical Industries Company for the formation of a global petrochemicals joint venture
- NBC Universal, Inc. in connection with its agreement to sell Miami, Florida television station WTVJ to a subsidiary of The Washington Post Company
- Dun & Bradstreet in connection with various mergers and acquisitions transactions, including its acquisition of AllBusiness.com, Inc. and its acquisition of Purisma Inc.
- Dycom Industries, Inc. and its affiliates in connection with various software licensing and technology services arrangements
- Women’s Soccer, LLC in connection with its launch of Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS), a major U.S. professional women’s soccer league scheduled to begin play in 2009
- Fenway Sports Group in its acquisition of a 50% interest in the Roush Fenway Racing NASCAR team
- Viacom International Inc. in connection with its sale of Famous Music LLC to Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC
- National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. in the combination of certain NYSE Regulation, Inc. regulatory functions with the NASD
- The Indian Hotels Company Ltd. in its acquisition of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Boston, MA
