Patricia G. Hammes


Tricia Hammes is ranked a leading lawyer in finance by Chambers Global, Chambers USA, IFLR 1000 and Guide to the Worlds Leading Lawyers in Project Finance.  In 2016, she was named “Best in Energy, Natural Resources & Mining” by Euromoney  Women in Business Law Awards.  She is described as “very direct” with “expertise [that] continues to attract high-profile clients” and is at the forefront of the market across a wide range of financings (leveraged, project and acquisition, among others) in the mining, power, energy and infrastructure sectors.  She also has extensive experience in restructurings and joint ventures and has a long-standing resume of award-winning projects, including “Mining & Metals Deal of the Year” (Guyana Goldfields Aurora Gold Project) named by IJ Global.  Tricia is based in the Firm’s Washington DC office and is the Firm’s relationship partner for a number of governmental and multilateral institutions.

Selected Experience

  • Designated lenders’ counsel representing various financial institutions in the financing for LS Power portfolio assets including Cherokee, Doswell, Riverside and Madison, among others
  • The lead arrangers and joint bookrunning managers in connection with the approximately $1.8 billion bank/bond refinancing for InterGen
  • International Finance Corporation (IFC), Export Development Canada (EDC), ING Capital LLC, Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation and The Bank of Nova Scotia, as senior lenders, in connection with the financing related to the construction and development of the Aurora Gold project, located in Guyana, South America
  • Certain financial institutions as purchasers in the issuance of senior secured notes by Bayonne Water Joint Venture; also advised Royal Bank of Canada as lender in a related revolving credit facility
  • Canada Pension Plan Investment Board as lender in a variety of transactions, including in connection with a senior secured acquisition financing for Blackhawk Mining. Tricia has also represented CPPIB in connection with the acquisition financing for one of its portfolio companies, Air Distribution Technologies
