George Milton

Counsel

George Milton is a counsel in the London office of Shearman & Sterling, having trained at the firm and qualified into its antitrust practice in 2006. He advises a wide range of corporate and financial institution clients on EU/UK merger control matters, joint ventures, behavioural competition issues, distribution systems, multi-jurisdictional merger clearance processes and competition compliance counselling. He has also spent time on secondment to a key client.

Selected Experience

  • Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (ICE) in connection with the CMA's review of its Trayport acquisition; its acquisition of NYSE Euronext (cleared unconditionally by the European Commission in Phase I) and a majority stake in the spot natural gas and derivatives business of APX-ENDEX (cleared unconditionally after a contentious Phase I CMA investigation)
  • Barry Callebaut in connection with its acquisition of the Cocoa Ingredients Division of Petra Foods Limited
  • Abu Dhabi Media Investment Corp on its 50:50 joint venture with BSkyB to set up and operate a 24-hour Arabic language news and current affairs channel under the Sky News brand across the MENA region
  • Nokia in connection with its acquisition of NAVTEQ, cleared unconditionally by the European Commission after a Phase II investigation
