Alexandro Padrés, a counsel at Shearman & Sterling, advises various financial institutions in the area of infrastructure projects as they relate to the electricity and oil and gas sectors. In addition, Mr. Padrés has been involved in intellectual property matters governed by US and Mexican law and environmental issues and corporate governance governed by Mexican law. Mr. Padrés joined Shearman & Sterling in New York in October 2002 as an international associate and became an associate in January 2004. Prior to joining the firm, he advised Mexican state-owned enterprises, specifically within the framework of bidding processes, including the negotiation and drafting of the first set of 10 Independent Power Producer (IPP) projects in Mexico. Mr. Padrés was named a Rising Legal Star by Latin Business Chronicle, 2013 and is admitted to the bar of New York and to practice in Mexico.
