James P. Tallon

James Tallon practices in the Litigation Group. He joined the firm in September 1982, following a U.S. District Court clerkship. He became a partner in January 1991. For 15 months in 2012 and 2013, Mr. Tallon was on special assignment to a client’s legal department, handling significant litigation in which the client was involved.

Throughout his career, Mr. Tallon has represented domestic and foreign clients in complex commercial litigation at the trial level and at the appellate level in federal and state courts throughout the United States, including in more than two dozen class actions.

Selected Experience

  • Countrywide Financial Corporation (and related companies) in connection with multiple cases arising out of purchases by sophisticated entities of mortgage backed securities
  • A Texas natural gas company in litigation in Delaware Chancery Court against a former executive in connection with a dispute over terms of partnership agreements to which the former employee was a party
  • Barclays Bank PLC and Barclays Bank Delaware in a multidistricted nationwide class action in federal court in New York in which a putative class of retailers allege an unlawful combination among credit card networks, issuing and acquiring banks with respect to merchant fees and network rules
