Our Acquisitions & Dispositions Practice covers real estate transactions of every class, from purchases in the hundreds of millions of dollars to more modest sales of several million dollars. We work with large institutional investors, private equity funds, hotel chains, retail operators, individual investors, and REITs. Our acquisitions and dispositions work spans the globe and includes local and regional markets in the United States as well as international markets, including Europe, Latin America and Asia.

Shearman & Sterling has been at the center of the New York City real estate market since the firm's early days, advising clients through numerous market cycles and drawing on decades of experience to foresee issues in structuring new transactions. Equity investor representations are central to our group. Our efforts include the representation of individual investors, joint ventures, and funds. We have assisted many of our international investors in the formation and implementation of their US investment programs.

We have a comprehensive hotel advisory practice and have assisted clients to buy and sell hotels bearing all of the major flags, including Four Seasons, Hyatt, Marriott, Ritz Carlton and Sheraton. Our involvement in this area has also included development projects, both with and without the "flag," and acquisitions and dispositions of chains and portfolios of hotels.

In each of these aspects of our Acquisitions & Dispositions Practice, our Real Estate Group works closely with other practice groups, including Tax, M&A, and Asset Management, to provide our clients with the full breadth of knowledge and experience offered by the firm.
