Renewable energy can be produced from the sun’s rays by using either heat collectors (solar “thermal” energy) or photovoltaic cells that produce electricity (solar “photovoltaic” energy). Despite remaining technical issues, both technologies are being developed in France thanks to favorable regulations, including feed-in tariffs and tax incentives.
