Georg Thoma practiced in London with Linklaters & Paines in 1977 and in New York with Shearman & Sterling in 1978. From 1979 to 1990, Mr. Thoma was a partner at law firm Galler Meyer-Landrut Miller.

From 1994 through the present Mr. Thoma has served in various executive positions in the global management of Shearman & Sterling. Since 2008 he has been a member of the firm’s global Strategy Group.

He received his Dr. h. c. from the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel in 2005.
