Holland West is Of Counsel to the international law firm of Shearman & Sterling LLP (www.shearman.com), and has more than 30 years of Wall Street finance experience.

Previously, Mr. West was a partner at Shearman & Sterling and the head of its global hedge fund, private equity, derivatives, and structured finance practices, a partner at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft and the head of its asset management and derivatives practices, and Assistant General Counsel at Goldman, Sachs & Co. advising its capital markets, derivatives, and commodity businesses.

Mr. West is experienced in diverse investment management matters, representing an international clientele in organizing and managing a wide range of private investment funds and accounts for traditional and alternative assets (including hedge funds and funds-of-funds, private equity, venture capital, buy-out, and real estate funds, and CDO and other securitization vehicles). Mr. West also is experienced in derivative, structured product, capital market, and commodity matters, representing an international clientele in the development, structuring, and execution of complex financing, derivative, and securitization techniques, products, and structures. Mr. West additionally provides clients with product development and transaction assistance and regulatory, risk management, and compliance counseling.


Selected Professional & Business Activities

Mr. West is a frequent lecturer on investment management, derivative, and financial product matters (including at industry and academic programs and as a senior lecturer at the law and business schools at Duke University, Fordham University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), and he serves on the editorial boards of industry publications.

Mr. West serves as director and counsel of various civic and non-profit educational, charitable, and service organizations.
