Infrastructure Investor cites Shearman & Sterling report, quotes Urda Kassis
4 Feb 2009

Infrastructure Investor examined infrastructure financing in a Feb. 4 story, titled “Law Firm Sees ‘New Paradigm’ for Latin American Project Finance,” and quoted New York partner Cynthia Urda Kassis. The story focused on a recent Shearman & Sterling report, prepared by Urda Kassis and fellow New York partner Greg Tan, that identified expanded club deals and a greater role of multilateral and export credit agencies (ECAs) as two trends in infrastructure financing in 2008 likely to continue in 2009. Urda Kassis, one of the leaders of the firm’s Project Development & Finance practice and Latin America group and Shearman & Sterling’s lead partner on the recent Panama Canal financing, said that multilaterals and ECAs are “less susceptible to the current financial crisis.” “There is now a lot of competition for the dollars that they have,” she added.
