Shearman & Sterling's International Arbitration lawyers have represented companies, States and State entities in hundreds of international arbitrations, primarily in investment, energy, construction, mergers & acquisitions and joint ventures, intellectual property and general commercial disputes. These cases were held under more than 100 governing laws and international instruments and subject to all major international arbitration rules.
Our 12-partner International Arbitration Group is headed by Emmanuel Gaillard. It includes over 75 fully-dedicated lawyers with a wide variety of professional and cultural backgrounds, operating from our offices in Abu Dhabi, Frankfurt, London, Milan, New York, Paris, Singapore and Washington, DC. They are able to conduct arbitrations in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Chinese and Arabic.
