  • Represented Viacom and its related companies in commercial and IP disputes, including Paramount Technology Group v. Philips Interactive Media (litigation and arbitration over scope of CD-i and CD-ROM licensing agreements)
  • Represented defendant in disputes involving trade secrets, IP ownership, and breach of contract. Successful in getting plaintiff to voluntarily dismiss all claims with no payment or other consideration by defendant
  • Represented Motorola in seven patent case covering analog copy protection technology
  • Represented Vonage in a three-week trial before the Eastern District of Virginia and on appeal at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit
  • Represented Motorola in four patent case involving cell phone technology
  • Represented UTStarcom in two patent infringement actions brought by UTStarcom, and one patent infringement action brought against UTStarcom, involving 3G wireless data routers
  • Represented a large communications company in a trade secret matter. Obtained an admission of misappropriation and an agreement by the opponent party to discontinue use of client’s trade secrets and to cease shipping the compromised products
  • Represented Nikon in a major photolithography patent case
  • Represented Vonage in multiple patent cases where adverse party was asserting 12 patents against Vonage and Vonage was asserting 3 patents against defendants
  • Represented Bell Canada in software patent litigation brought by Centillion Corp.
  • Represented Amtrak in patent case relating to automatic telephone call processing technology
  • Represented BEA Systems against a large software vendor including the defense of an action for patent infringement in the District of Delaware, the assertion of infringement claims against the other party in the Eastern District of Virginia, and the successful initiation of reexamination proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
  • Represented Former officers of a publicly listed trading company in a patent infringement action regarding MP3 technology
  • Currently representing Synchrome Technologies, Inc. in a patent litigation case pending in the District Court of Delaware. Synchrome is the plaintiff alleging patent infringement against several disk drive manufacturers and users on patents relating to disk drive technology
  • Represented PMMC in a patent case involving personalized television delivery and presentation patents

Selected Media Electronics Software Experience

  • Represented Mobile 365 in a patent infringement action involving inter-carrier messaging services allowing messages to be sent to and from mobile phones on different carriers through an intermediary
  • Represented MStar Semiconductor in proceedings before the International Trade Commission (ITC) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (including the first ever inter parties hearing) concerning mixed-mode integrated circuit controllers used in video displays. Obtained a determination allowing continued importation of client’s products and downstream products containing the same.
  • Defending Tabata USA in patent infringement lawsuit involving numerous patent owned by Flashpoint Technology, Inc. relating to user interfaces on digital cameras and camera phones
  • Represented Aiptek Inc. and HTC (High Tech Computer Corp.) in district count litigation involving digital camera technology
  • Represented WHP Wireless in patent declaratory judgment action seeking to have cellular telephone-related patents rendered invalid or not infringed. Obtained favorable settlement
  • Represented Twinhead in a Section 337 ITC patent infringement proceeding brought by Intel before the International Trade Commission (ITC) involving microprocessor memory management in 386 and 486 microprocessors
