Practice C. Jones Perry, a partner in the Private Client Group, represents both domestic and international clients in a broad range of estate planning and tax matters, including pre-immigration tax planning, establishment of cross-border trusts, multi-jurisdictional estate and expatriation tax planning, estate and tax planning for owners of closely held businesses, S corporations and family limited partnerships, charitable gift planning, private foundations and administration of estates and trusts. Mr. Perry joined the firm in 1987 and became a partner in 1995.
Experience
- Representing a Middle Eastern client on U.S. tax and business succession issues in connection with the transfer of his wholly owned business worth in excess of $1 billion to his spouse and children
- Representing a family in the restructuring of their family holding company prior to its sale to a publicly traded oil and gas company for over $600 million
- Representing U.S. banks in developing tax-efficient offshore structures for their Venezuelan and Argentine clients
- Representing an international family on estate and tax issues in connection with the sale of their family’s business to a public company for over $10 billion and the reinvestment of the sale proceeds
- Representing a U.S. brokerage firm in connection with the establishment of their Cayman Islands trust company
- Restructuring of a European resident’s business holdings worth over $1 billion and advice on a family gift program prior to immigration to U.S. in order to minimize U.S. taxes
- Representing the seller of a unique art collection in negotiations for its sale by a major auction house
- Advising U.S. citizens on tax planning in connection with their expatriation
