Practice Mr. Sykes is a partner in the firm’s Tax Group where he represents major companies, financial institutions and underwriters, advising on the tax aspects of various types of transactions including cross-border offerings of debt and equity securities, country debt restructurings, asset-backed securities, fund offerings, leasing transactions, project finance and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Sykes joined the firm in 1986 and became a partner in 1996.

- The joint lead arrangers in connection with the bridges, senior loan, high yield debt and EETC financing for the proposed acquisition of Qantas Airways Limited

- The purchaser of a concessionaire of baggage cart, locker and stroller services at airports and train stations throughout the world
- The issuer in a monetization of certain economic and tax benefits in an infrastructure project
- The underwriters in a public offering of credit-enhanced leveraged lease debt through a pass-through trust for a major U.S. airline
- The purchaser of aircraft operating leases and supporting staff
- The placement agent in the offering by a hedge fund of repackaged credit-enhanced leveraged lease debt through a pass-through trust
