Practice Lois joined the mergers & acquisitions practice in the London office of Shearman & Sterling in January 2007. Prior to this, Lois was a partner in the Corporate Department of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London where she developed expertise in managing large, complex, cross-border transactions, principally for US multi-nationals, in relation to private corporate transactions, including major global reorganisations. From 1988-1992, Lois was based in the New York office of Freshfields and was Managing Partner in 1992. Lois is an English solicitor and is licensed to practice foreign law in the State of New York.

- Advising Merrill Lynch, Inc. and others on the exit from a joint venture with The Royal Bank of Scotland in connection with shares in Bank of China Limited
- Acting for E.ON on the UK aspects of its cross-border asset swap transaction with Statkraft
- Coordinating the pan-European advice to Marfrig Frigorificos e Comércio de Alimentos S.A. in its $680 million acquisition of the European and Brazilian food supply businesses of the OSI Group
- Advising Equinix Inc, on its takeover of IXEurope plc, company traded on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market
