Shearman & Sterling Represents Mitsubishi Corporation in Purchase of Interest in Aladdin Capital Holdings

New York, May 6, 2008—Shearman & Sterling represented Mitsubishi Corporation in the purchase, by its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Mitsubishi International Corporation and Mitsubishi Global Investment, Inc., of 19.5% of the outstanding interests of Aladdin Capital Holdings LLC. In connection with the acquisition, Mitsubishi will commit $300 million to a new hedge fund of funds to be jointly established with Aladdin that will invest in funds managed by Aladdin. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2008, subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions.

Aladdin, based in Greenwich, Connecticut, is a private investment management company specializing in fixed income alternative investments, including hedge funds, collateralized debt obligations and structured investment vehicles. Mitsubishi Corporation is Japan’s largest general trading company (sogo shosha) with over 200 bases of operations in approximately 80 countries worldwide.
