Practice
Mr. Weerasinghe is the firm’s Senior Partner. He has broad corporate and securities law expertise, with a particular focus on advising corporate clients on corporate and securities law issues and corporate governance matters. Mr. Weerasinghe regularly represents both financial institutions and corporate clients in public offering transactions, especially complex transactions such as those involving leveraged buyouts, high yield debt issuances, initial public offerings and cross-border offerings. Mr. Weerasinghe also represents corporate clients on acquisition transactions. In addition, he leads the firm’s India Practice Group. Mr. Weerasinghe was previously head of the firm’s global capital markets group, and has served on the firm’s management committee. He joined the firm in 1977, initially focusing on mergers and acquisitions and later on capital markets. Mr. Weerasinghe became a partner in 1986.

Recent Experience
- Various global financial institutions, including Bank of America, Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and UBS on a wide variety of securities offerings and other corporate matters
- The underwriters in all public offerings for American Airlines and its parent, AMR Corporation, since 1980
- Various corporate clients, such as BE Aerospace, CIT Group, Lincoln Educational Services and Tata Group, on corporate and securities law issues and corporate governance matters, including strategic corporate transactions and issuances of debt and equity securities. Mr. Weerasinghe also regularly advises the boards of directors of many of such issuer clients.
