Shearman & Sterling Advises on Capital Increases for Saint-Gobain and Lafarge

Saint-Gobain

Saint-Gobain has announced the launch of a €1.5 billion rights issue. The offering will be open to the public in France as well as in the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland (where Saint-Gobain’s shares are listed) and will be accompanied by an international private placement. The exercise period of the warrants will run from February 23, 2009 to March 6, 2009 inclusive.

Shearman & Sterling is advising Saint-Gobain in connection with this transaction, with a team led by partners Cyrille Niedzielski (Paris-M&A) and Bertrand Sénéchal (Paris-Capital Markets) assisted by associates Guillaume Isautier (Paris-M&A), Pierre Treille (Paris-Capital Markets), Régis Henry (Paris-Capital Markets), Trevor Ingram (Paris-Capital Markets) and Lerato Molefe (Paris-Capital Markets).

Lafarge

Lafarge has announced a €1.5 billion rights issue. This offering is subject to shareholders approval at an extraordinary general meeting scheduled on March 31.
