Practice
Mr. Marzen is a partner in the Litigation Group. In his 15 years at the firm, he has concentrated on international civil litigation (including plaintiff's side, intellectual property, and international trade litigation) and domestic appeals. Before joining the firm, Mr. Marzen served as Assistant to the Solicitor General in the United States Department of Justice and, before that, as engagement manager at McKinsey & Co., Inc., an international management consulting firm. He served as Law Clerk to Circuit Judge Malcolm R. Wilkey of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit from 1984 to 1985 and Associate Justice John P. Stevens of the United States Supreme Court from 1985 to 1986.

- Representation of Bank of America Corporation and affiliates against former shareholders of Brazilian and Bahamian banks for fraud, conversion, and breach of contract in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (pending)
- Representation of Arcelor in appeal of U.S. Department of Commerce's instructions to collect duties on German stainless steel before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (reversed)
- Representation of Fluorogas Limited, a subsidiary of The BOC Group, plc, in appeal of $180 million judgment to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit (judgment reversed)
- Representation of Bechtel International, Inc. in dispute with subsidiary of The Coca-Cola Company over construction of Irish concentrate manufacturing plant in London High Court (settled)
- Representation of Usinor in defense on appeal of U.S. Department of Commerce's methodology for assessing countervailing duties against privatized companies before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (judgment affirmed)
- Defense of Orthofix International N.V. and Orthofix Inc. in shareholder class-action litigation in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and on appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit (district court's judgment dismissing all claims with prejudice affirmed on March 12, 2004)
- Defense of German printing press manufacturers against treble-damages antitrust/antidumping claim involving newspaper printing presses imported from Germany and Japan in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Iowa (settled)
- Representation of Banco Español de Crédito, S.A. in appeal of $30 million judgment in U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit (judgment reversed)
- Intellectual property litigation involving patent, trademark, trade dress, trade secret, and distribution contract issues on behalf of Orthofix Group against former distributor and distributor's corporate parents resulting in $150 million jury verdict—the sixth largest in the United States in 1997
