Practice Solomon Noh, a partner in the Bankruptcy & Reorganization Group, has a cross-disciplinary practice with involvement in derivatives, financing and mergers & acquisitions, all with a focus on distressed and bankruptcy situations. Mr. Noh also regularly represents debtors and creditors in Chapter 11 bankruptcies, out-of-court restructurings and cross-border insolvencies, and also advises lenders in various types of financing transactions. Mr. Noh’s most recent focus has been on monoline insurance company restructurings and rehabilitation and representation of banks and hedge funds on risks relating to financial contract counterparty exposure, particularly in the context of the Chapter 11 bankruptcy filings of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. and its debtor affiliates. Mr. Noh, who began practicing in 2000, joined Shearman & Sterling in 2002. Mr. Noh recently transferred from Shearman & Sterling’s New York office to the London office to supplement the firm’s distressed/restructuring capability in the UK and Europe.

- Various hedge funds in connection with their exposure in the liquidation of MF Global Inc.
- Nomura International plc and certain of its affiliates in connection with the Chapter 11 cases of Lehman Brothers, including in connection with derivatives valuation litigation
- Several large financial institutions in connection with restructurings and risk assessment in relation to monoline insurers, including Syncora, Ambac, MBIA and FGIC
- Various hedge funds in connection with derivatives claims trading as well as exposure to Lehman Brothers Chapter 11 cases and Lehman Brothers Inc. SIPA case
- DDJ Capital Management and other secured lenders in connection with the prepackaged Chapter 11 cases of Haights Cross Communications, Inc.
- Avenue Capital and other secured noteholders in connection with the Chapter 11 cases of Milacron Inc. and its affiliates
- Tembec Industries Inc. in connection with a cross-border restructuring, including a Chapter 15 filing
- Remy International, Inc. in connection with its prepackaged Chapter 11 cases, chosen as IFLR Restructuring Deal of the Year (2008)
- Oneida Ltd. in connection with its litigation against PBGC relating to the termination premiums under The Deficit Reduction Act of 2005
- Delphi Corp. in connection with its Chapter 11 cases and its European corporate restructuring
