Partner Alex Bevan (Abu Dhabi-International Arbitration) chaired the session entitled “The GAR Live Inquisition – Can Experts Be Relied Upon?” at the 3rd annual GAR Live Abu Dhabi.

Alex chaired a panel in the style of a U.S. Senate Committee, interrogating a set of arbitrators, counsel and experts on the role of expert evidence in international arbitration.  This lively Q&A covered the criteria for selecting experts, expert independence and expert credibility.  Alex was joined by co-inquisitors Heba Osman, Legal Director for Otis, and Michael Black QC.  The “witnesses” giving evidence were Bob Broxson of BDO, Dyfan Owen of Ashurst, independent arbitrator (and Shearman & Sterling alumna) Nadine Debbas Achkar and arbitrator Michael Cover of ArbDB Chambers.
