Partner Stephen T. Giove and associate Arielle L. Katzman (both New York-Capital Markets) co-hosted a Best Practices “Think Tank” in collaboration with Corporate Secretary and IR Magazine on November 8, 2018, at Shearman & Sterling’s New York office. The Think Tank is an invitation-only event exclusively for Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) professionals, which consists of a series of panel sessions with top-rated corporate governance professionals followed by roundtable discussions on select GRC issues. These interactive sessions enable participants to network extensively, discuss, debate and dissect best practices and topical issues in the corporate governance world.

Steve moderated the opening session, which was about boardroom trends. The session largely circled around cyber/tech presence in the boardroom, investors’ interest in human capital issues and board assessments/evaluations.  Arielle was interviewed in a “fire-side chat” regarding the changing perceptions of activist investors, with a particular focus in the ESG context.
