  • Abu Dhabi

Partner Alex Bevan (Abu Dhabi-International Arbitration) chaired a panel discussion on innovation in arbitration at the launch of the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) Arbitration Centre’s new Guidelines on September 17. Alex addressed the importance of evolution and innovation in international arbitration and how these Guidelines will contribute to it.

Abu Dhabi Global Market Arbitration Centre (ADGMAC) is a world-class state-of-the-art hearing facility located in the MENA region. It has launched a set of Arbitration Guidelines with unique and innovative characteristics that offer parties best practice procedures to assist in bringing greater certainty and efficiency to the arbitral process. The Guidelines were developed jointly by ADGM and a team from Shearman & Sterling led by Alex Bevan, following extensive consultation with a wide cross-section of the dispute resolution community, including senior in-house counsel from leading Abu Dhabi organizations, arbitrators, as well as local and international law firms.

Alex heads the Abu Dhabi office and has been repeatedly recommended for his work in major international arbitrations across the Middle East. He has handled many of the largest international disputes in the region, in particular disputes arising from high scale construction projects. He also heads the firm’s Construction practice.
