Hsu Profiled in The Recorder

Palo Alto and New York partner Richard Hsu, global leader of the firm’s Intellectual Property Transactions practice, was recently profiled in The Recorder.

In the interview, Hsu discusses his podcast, “Hsu Untied,” which serves as a platform for Hsu to interview lawyers about their hobbies. The project started as an outgrowth of his original blog, “HsuTube,” in which he explained complex IP issues through illustrations provided by his teenage daughter.  Some of his guests have included an astronomer, a winemaker, a woodworker, a skydiver, an opera singer, a stand-up comedian, a magician, a cross-country cycler and a classical ballet dancer.

For Hsu, the podcast has become his own meta-hobby. “People ask me how long are you going to do it, and I basically say, as long as I’m having fun at it,” he says. “I did have a childhood dream of being like a Terry Gross or a Charlie Rose.”
