Shearman & Sterling Receives Dodge Award for Distinguished Trustee Service from International House

Shearman & Sterling received the Dodge Award for Distinguished Trustee Service at the International House 90th Anniversary Awards Gala on June 10 in New York City. The firm was honored for its significant contributions in advancing International House’s mission of cross-cultural understanding and cooperation. The award was presented to Creighton Condon, Shearman & Sterling’s Senior Partner, by Ambassador Frank G. Wisner, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of International House.

International House is a private, non-profit organization that prepares graduate students and trainees for the challenges they will face as future world leaders. The firm became involved with International House in 1977, and more than 50 of its lawyers have worked on legal matters for the organization since that time. In addition, four of its partners—Don Cuneo, Ken Kramer and Joseph McLaughlin—have served on International House’s Board of Trustees, and Cuneo also served as President of the organization.

Accepting the award on behalf of the firm, Creighton Condon said, “We consider it a privilege to provide legal services to organizations like International House. We believe that engaging in pro bono work is an essential part of every lawyer’s practice, and we are happy to provide those services to an institution that is, quite literally, empowering the next generation of globally minded leaders.”
