Lippett Receives Cornerstone Award for Pro Bono Service

Counsel Sharon Lippett (New York-Compensation, Governance & ERISA) received the 2015 Cornerstone Award for pro bono excellence from Lawyers Alliance for New York on November 4, 2015.

Since 1997, the Cornerstone Awards have been presented annually to a select group of individuals and institutions that have made extraordinary contributions through pro bono legal services. These services help nonprofits to address critical human needs and improve the quality of life for thousands of low-income New Yorkers.

For more than 10 years, Ms. Lippett has been sharing her much-needed talents with an impressive array of Lawyers Alliance nonprofit clients seeking employment law advice. These clients include Bridge Builders Community Partnership, Bridge Street Development Corporation, Caring Community, Carnival of Love, Community Food Advocates (CFA), Diaspora Community Services, DOROT, Hope of Israel Senior Citizens Center, Iris House, Riverdale Senior Services, and South Asian Council for Social Services.

“My pro bono experiences with Lawyers Alliance have been rewarding and enjoyable,” said Ms. Lippett. “The pro bono clients are a pleasure to work with, and I am constantly amazed by how much they undertake and accomplish, often with very minimal resources. The support provided by the staff attorneys at Lawyers Alliance is always helpful.”

Lawyers Alliance for New York is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people in low-income communities throughout New York City. Each year the organization’s legal staff, joined by 1,650 volunteer attorneys from more than 130 law firms and corporate legal departments, serves thousands of nonprofits working in all five boroughs.
