Shearman & Sterling Adds Top Securities Litigator in Washington, DC

Shearman & Sterling is delighted to announce that Lyle Roberts will join the firm as a partner in its Litigation practice.

Roberts represents companies, officers and directors in securities cases and SEC enforcement matters throughout the United States. In addition to representing numerous corporate issuers in such matters, Roberts represented Mark Cuban in obtaining a complete victory against the SEC in Cuban’s closely watched insider trading case. Recognized as a leading securities litigator in Chambers USA and other publications, Roberts also is the publisher of the well-known blog The 10b-5 Daily, which tracks key developments in securities litigation. Roberts’ addition strengthens the firm’s already formidable securities litigation team that was recently cited by Lex Machina as one of the 10 firms that handled the most federal securities class actions in the last five years.

“We are delighted to welcome Lyle to the firm,” said David Beveridge, Senior Partner of Shearman & Sterling. Beveridge added: “We have a market-leading securities litigation and enforcement practice, and the addition of Lyle enables us to even better serve our corporate client base and furthers the strategic growth of our DC office and corporate client strategy.”

Adam Hakki, the firm’s Global Co-Managing Partner and Global Head of Litigation, added: “We have known Lyle for many years and are thrilled to welcome him to our team. Lyle is a thought leader in the securities litigation bar and a highly effective advocate. His corporate issuer-focused practice is an ideal complement to our existing team. His joining also rounds out our DC disputes offering, which already includes seasoned antitrust, commercial, FCPA and white collar litigation partners, as well as international arbitration partners.”

Roberts joins Shearman & Sterling from Cooley’s Washington, DC office.
