Law360 Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group of the Year

Shearman & Sterling’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice has been selected as one of six Law360 Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Groups of the Year for 2018. Winners were selected based on the significance, size and complexity of the firm's work, and the number of large deals the firm worked on.

The M&A practice was selected for advising:

  • CVS Health on its $69 billion industry-transforming acquisition of Aetna;
  • Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis in its $3.9 billion all-cash acquisition of the Nasdaq-listed French cancer specialist Advanced Accelerator Applications;
  • Liberty Global in the sale of its operations in Germany, Hungary, Romania and the Czech Republic to Vodafone Group for €19 billion;
  • Cyprus Cooperative Bank in the €10.3 billion sale of certain of its assets and liabilities to Hellenic Bank Public Company; and
  • Unibail-Rodamco on its proposed $25 billion acquisition of Westfield Corporation.

Now in its ninth year, the Practice Group of the Year series drew from 759 submissions in 2018 in 38 practice areas. Full profiles of the winning groups will be published in the coming weeks.
