Shearman & Sterling Ranked Among Top Pro Bono Law Firms

Shearman & Sterling achieved high rankings in The American Lawyer’s 2019 Pro Bono Scorecard, the publication’s annual issue of the best firms at giving back. For the third year in a row, the firm received the number one ranking for its breadth of commitment, as measured by the percentage of U.S.-based lawyers who performed more than 20 hours of pro bono work in 2018. The firm ranked 11th in the national category, which measures the average number of pro bono hours per U.S.-based lawyer in 2018.

Shearman & Sterling’s extensive pro bono work around family reunification was also highlighted in the publication’s annual editorial feature, quoting counsel Emily Griffen (San Francisco-Litigation) and Pro Bono Director Saralyn Cohen.

The American Lawyers Pro Bono Scorecard reports on the state of pro bono work in the nation's largest law firms, ranking the Am Law 200 based on the amount of pro bono work performed.
