Shearman & Sterling was once again recognized as one of the “Top 12 Foreign Law Firms” for India-related work by India Business Law Journal (IBLJ). This is the 11th consecutive year that IBLJ has included the firm in its top ranking.

IBLJ noted that “Shearman & Sterling has an enviable track record advising India-focused clients as a result of its deep industry experience in sectors including energy, healthcare, power, metals and mining and telecommunications. The India practice, consists of a network of lawyers in M&A, private equity, capital markets, project finance, arbitration, real estate and fund formation, based in Asia, Europe and North and South America.”

Notably, IBLJ sited the firm’s work for Capital Square Partners in its $700 million acquisition of a controlling stake in StarTek and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec in its acquisition of a 40% interest in CLP India for $371 million. The firm also recently received the “Mergers & Acquisitions Deal of the Year 2018” award from IBLJ in its February 2019 edition for Dish TV-Videocon D2H merger.

Now in its 13th year, the IBLJ report drew on an analysis of more than 600 law firms that have documented deals and matters with an Indian element in the past 12 months. The results were based on intensive research, deep editorial experience and wide consultation with corporate counsel and Indian law firms.
