Shearman & Sterling Named ‘Champion of Good’ by Singapore’s National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre

Shearman & Sterling is proud to be named a Champion of Good 2020 by Singapore’s National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC). The award recognizes our Singapore office’s commitment to create impact driven partnerships that further the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG).

Our initiatives are spearheaded by our sustainability working group founded and led by associates Chloé Vialard and Kyle Koh. The working group focuses on selected UNSDGs such as equality and the environment, and adopts a holistic approach through a mix of pro bono, public policy and corporate social responsibility work. Our recent initiatives include our work with YMCA on an advocacy programme to nurture and inspire underprivileged youth (see Channel News Asia’s coverage on Shearman & Sterling here) and with Star Shelter to support women victims of violence (see The Straits Times’ coverage here). The sustainability working group is composed of a gender balanced and diverse mix of attorneys and staff, including Bilyana Belcheva, Alvina Quek, Chloé Vialard, Ken Hong, Dimitrios Katsikis, Shaun Pereira and Kyle Koh.

Champions of Good is an annual award organized by NVPC, in partnership with the Singapore Business Federation Foundation (SBFF), supported by the Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth (MCCY), and in support of Singapore Cares (SG Cares). The award empowers businesses operating in Singapore to do good in strategic, sustainable and impactful ways, as well as recognizes those that make positive contributions to the community.
