Shearman & Sterling has promoted 18 lawyers to counsel in nine practice areas and seven of its offices across the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The promotions span the Antitrust, Capital Markets, Finance, Financial Restructuring & Insolvency, Investment Funds, International Arbitration, Mergers & Acquisitions, Project Development & Finance, and Tax practices and are effective as of July 1, 2021. This follows Shearman & Sterling's recent announcement of 14 new partners in June.

Americas

• Cassandra Cuellar is a member of the Capital Markets practice in Austin. She represents emerging companies, entrepreneurs and venture capital investors in a broad range of corporate transactions. Cassandra received her J.D. from the University of Texas.
• Yian Huang is a member of the Capital Markets practice in Menlo Park. He represents public and private companies, investment banks and sponsors in a broad range of corporate transactions, including securities offerings, public company reporting and compliance, venture capital, debt financing and mergers and acquisitions. He received his J.D. from Columbia University.
• Matt Modell is a member of the Antitrust & Disputes practice in Washington, D.C. He focuses on antitrust and other complex litigation at the trial level in federal and state courts throughout the country, including antitrust and trade regulation. He received his J.D. from the University of North Carolina.
• Augusto Ruiloba is a member of the Project Development & Finance practice in New York. He advises clients on developments and financings, as well as acquisition financings, of energy, renewables, mining and infrastructure projects throughout Latin America. He received his LL.M. from Columbia Law School.
• Jesse Sherrett is a member of the International Arbitration practice in Washington, D.C. He represents public and private sector clients in complex multinational disputes across a range of sectors and in several regions, including North America, Europe, East Asia and the Middle East. Jesse received his B.A. from the University of Toronto, his M.A. from Kings College London and his J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University.
• Jordan Wishnew is a member of the Financial Restructuring & Insolvency practice in New York. He represents ad hoc lender and noteholder groups, financial institutions, hedge funds and debtors in all aspects of large and complex distressed situations, domestic out-of-court restructurings, U.S. Chapter 11 cases, debtor-in-possession financings and distressed asset acquisitions. He received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.

EMEA

• Sara Couling is a member of the Finance Practice in London. She advises clients on the full range of English law derivatives transactions, with experience in bank finance, structured finance and debt capital markets. She received her LL.B. at the University of Exeter.
• David Hume is a member of the International Arbitration practice based in the UAE. David acts for multinational and state-owned companies in commercial arbitrations under the ICC and LCIA Rules in a wide range of industries, including oil & gas, mining, insurance, renewable energy and aerospace. He has extensive experience of large-scale construction and engineering disputes across the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia. He received his LL.B. (Hons) at Victoria University of Wellington.
• Colm Ó hUiginn is a member of the Project Development & Finance practice in London. He advises clients on projects in the energy and infrastructure sectors. He received his BCL and LL.M. from University College Dublin.
• Alexander Nordang is a member of the International Arbitration practice in Abu Dhabi. He represents clients on complex construction and investment arbitrations conducted in accordance with the ICC, LCIA and SIAC Rules. His industry experience covers civil infrastructure, mining and energy projects. He received his LL.B. at Queensland University of Technology.
• Mark Steenson is a member of the Antitrust practice in London. Mark advises businesses on all aspects of European and UK competition law. Mark received an LL.B. in Law with Advanced Studies from University College London, completed the Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School and received a Postgraduate Diploma in EU Competition Law from King's College London.
• Michael Ward is a member of the Tax practice in London, where he focuses on leveraged finance, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and investment funds transactions. He received his GDL from BPP Law School, London and LPC from the College of Law, London.

Asia

• Anil Motwani is a member of the Investment Funds practice in Hong Kong. He advises Asia-based sponsors on the formation and operation of private funds, including private equity funds, venture capital funds, real estate funds, as well as hedge funds. Anil is a CFA Charterholder. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School.
• Iris Priddy is a member of the Investment Funds practice in Hong Kong. She represents fund managers in the formation and operations of private equity, venture capital, co-investment and hedge funds and other alternative investment products as well as global investors’ investments into such products. She received her J.D./M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
• Edward Taylor is a member of the International Arbitration practice in Hong Kong. He represents and advises companies, states and state-owned entities in commercial and investment treaty disputes. He is dual-qualified in England and Wales (solicitor advocate) and Hong Kong (solicitor). He received his LL.B. at King's College London.
• Leo Wong is a member of the Capital Markets practice in Hong Kong. He received his B.A. from University of Chicago and earned his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School.
