Luckey McDowell is Team Leader of the Financial Restructuring & Insolvency practice.

With particularly deep experience representing energy sector clients, he focuses on capital restructuring for highly leveraged companies, out-of-court workouts, insolvency-specific guidance to boards, and all aspects of bankruptcy cases throughout the country. He also has extensive experience representing buy-side clients negotiating with financially distressed companies.

Within the energy industry, his clients include companies involved conventional and renewable power generation, as well as oil and gas exploration and production and oilfield services.

Southland Royalty Company – lead debtor’s counsel for a private-equity sponsored E&P oil and gas company with interests in over 8,000 wells throughout Wyoming, New Mexico, and Colorado
GenOn Energy – counsel to parent company, NRG Energy, in the restructuring of its wholly-owned subsidiaries (with approximately $4 billion of debt)
West Virginia oil & gas producer – representation of large producer in out-of-court restructuring
New Gulf Resources, LLC – lead debtor's counsel for an E&P oil and gas company in its pre-negotiated chapter 11 bankruptcy case
