Doreen Lilienfeld Receives ‘Leadership in the Community Award’ at The Chambers Women in Law USA Awards 2015

Shearman & Sterling’s Doreen Lilienfeld, Practice Group Leader of the Compensation, Governance & ERISA Group, was honored on June 2 at The Chambers Women in Law USA Awards 2015 for “Leadership in the Community: Lawyer of the Year (Private Practice).” Chambers’ Women in Law Awards recognize the outstanding achievements of female lawyers at the pinnacle of their professional careers as well as up-and-coming lawyers who are beginning to make their mark.

At the awards ceremony at The Harvard Club in New York, Chambers recognized Lilienfeld for her myriad contributions to the community, including her membership on the National Advisory Board of Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF), a premier organization dedicated to the advancement of women in law firms and corporate legal departments, her numerous publications on the topics of gender diversity on corporate boards and Dodd-Frank diversity mandates, and her extensive role as a formal and informal mentor to lawyers at all stages of their careers.

During her term as partner advisor to WISER (Women’s Initiative for Success, Excellence, and Retention), Shearman & Sterling’s associate-run women’s inclusion network, Lilienfeld helped develop programs to enable young female associates to think about business development early in their careers. She also co-founded the firm’s ShearmanWomen Initiative in order to share and engage with a highly targeted, constantly growing opt-in audience of students, lawyers and other professionals on the accomplishments of and challenges faced by women in achieving parity.

“Supporting women lawyers in realizing their potential is a reward in itself, and I’m grateful to Chambers for recognizing and promoting diversity in law through events like the Women in Law Awards,” Lilienfeld said.
