Firm Wins Thomas L. Sager Award for Diversity Achievements

The Minority Corporate Counsel Association named Shearman & Sterling the winner of the 2015 Thomas L. Sager Award for the Northeast Region. This is the second time the firm has been honored with this prestigious award.

Named for Thomas L. Sager, former Senior Vice President and General Counsel of DuPont, the award recognizes law firms that have demonstrated a sustained commitment to advance the hiring, retention and promotion of diverse attorneys.  One Sager Award is given to a deserving firm in each of MCCA’s five regions (Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West).

“We take great pride and are deeply honored to once again be recognized for Shearman & Sterling’s comprehensive and sustained diversity and inclusion initiatives,” said Creighton Condon, the firm’s Senior Partner “This award is a testament to the firm’s dedication and commitment to a diverse and inclusive workplace, and reflects our steadfast determination to continue to promote these values at our firm and in the greater legal community.”

Shearman & Sterling is widely recognized for its innovative global diversity and inclusion achievements. In recent months, the firm received the law firm diversity award from the Bank of America Legal Department’s Diversity and Inclusion Business Council, received the Gold Standard Certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF), was recognized by the New York Law Journal's Diversity Initiative Project 2015 for its commitment to creating an atmosphere of empowerment for women lawyers, and received a 100% rating from the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index Report.
