Election of New Partners

Shearman & Sterling has elected 14 counsel and associates to the partnership, effective January 1, 2018. The new partners practice across seven of the firm’s practices and are based in five of the firm’s offices – London, New York, Singapore, Tokyo and Toronto.

The lawyers elected to the partnership are:

K. Mallory Brennan is a member of the Litigation practice in New York. She specializes in advising corporate and financial institution clients in a broad range of matters, with a focus on M&A litigation, corporate governance and Delaware law issues. She also has experience in securities litigation matters, insider trading, shareholder class actions, bankruptcy, antitrust litigation, investigation and other complex commercial matters. Mallory earned her bachelor’s degree, with honors, from Millsaps College and her J.D., magna cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law.

Anna Chung is a member of the Project Development & Finance practice in Singapore. Having worked in the London, Shanghai and Singapore offices, Anna has significant experience working on the development and financing aspects of complex power, LNG, oil and gas and petrochemicals projects in the Middle East and Asia. She also specializes in advising Korean financial institutions and corporates on their outbound investments. Anna earned both her B.Comm and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of New South Wales.

Paul Epstein is a member of the Project Development & Finance practice in New York. He focuses on representing corporations, funds and financial institutions in the development, acquisition and financing of complex projects in the infrastructure and energy sectors, both domestically and internationally, including capital markets transactions involving project bonds. He has significant experience advising on public-private partnerships and concession arrangements. Paul earned his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, his M.Phil. from the University of Oxford and his J.D. from Stanford Law School.

Richard Fischetti is a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions practice in New York. He advises financial institutions, sovereign wealth funds and corporate clients in the technology, media and telecommunications industry on strategic transactions involving acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures and co-investments. He also represents US and multinational public companies on mergers and tender offers, minority investments and corporate governance matters. Richard earned his bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University, summa cum laude, and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Rutgers School of Law.

Jeff Hoschander is a member of the Litigation practice in New York. An experienced litigation and enforcement lawyer, Jeff advises on a variety of matters including RMBS litigation, securities class actions, criminal and regulatory matters, and internal investigations. Jeff earned his bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from Yeshiva University, his M.D. from the Yale University School of Medicine and his J.D., magna cum laude, from the New York University School of Law.

Rebecca Marques is a member of the Capital Markets practice in London. She represents issuers, sponsors and underwriters on a wide variety of international securities transactions. Rebecca has significant experience in U.S. federal securities law issues, high yield debt offerings for corporates and leveraged buyouts, international capital markets transactions and liability management exercises. Rebecca earned her bachelor’s degree from Williams College, magna cum laude, and her J.D. and LL.M from Duke University School of Law.

Toshiro Mochizuki is a member of the Asia Capital Markets practice in Tokyo. He has substantial experience advising issuers and underwriters on global offerings, SEC registrations as well as other securities law issues. Toshiro also represents clients on anti-corruption, antitrust, economic sanctions and other compliance matters, including advising on companies’ compliance programs and investigations. He earned his A.B. from Harvard University, magna cum laude, and his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School.

Daniel Reich is a member of the International Arbitration practice in New York. He advises States, State-owned entities and corporations on international arbitrations and public international law matters, including complex commercial disputes and investor-State disputes. His practice focuses on clients in the oil and gas, power, life sciences, and technology sectors. He serves as the Chair of the International Arbitration Committee for the American Branch of the International Law Association. Dan earned his bachelor’s degree from Yale University, magna cum laude, and his J.D. from Yale Law School.

Sean Skiffington is a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions practice in Toronto. He regularly represents corporates and sovereign wealth, pension and private equity funds on public and private mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. He has a particular focus on cross-border transactions in the industrials, metals and mining and aerospace sectors. Sean earned his Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University, with great distinction, his M.B.A. from Schulich School of Business, York University (Dean’s Honour List), and his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University.

Pawel Szaja is a member of the Capital Markets practice in London. He advises issuers and underwriters on equity and debt capital markets transactions as well as liability management transactions, M&A, securities law and corporate governance matters. Pawel has extensive experience across a wide range of cross-border securities offerings, including IPOs, privatizations, follow-on offerings, rights issues and debt transactions. He earned his LL.M. from Columbia University School of Law, an LL.M. (Finance) from Goethe University, Institute for Law and Finance in Frankfurt/Main, and his J.D. (Magister) from Warsaw University.
