Mergermarket Highlights Shearman & Sterling’s Prominence in Tech M&A

Mergermarket ’s League Table Analysis of top financial and legal advisors who worked on technology deals for the third quarter of 2020 highlighted Shearman & Sterling as an increasingly prominent advisor on technology M&A deals where both the bidder and target are based in the U.S.

“Shearman & Sterling not only jumped 54 ranks ahead of its peers but also recorded the maximum increase in market share amongst the top 15 from 0.5 percent between January and September in 2019 to 65.2 percent in 2020 for the same time period,” the publication noted.

Shearman & Sterling is ranked as number two in Mergermarket’s legal advisors league table for the third quarter, with 12 deals worth a total of $48.4 billion.

This notable success highlights the strength of the firm’s Technology practice across many offices, with multidisciplinary technology-focused teams in the Bay Area, New York, Austin, Paris, Frankfurt, London, and, most recently, Dallas, leading major transactions and cases for our clients such as SAP, Altice, the Intercontinental Exchange, VMware, Nokia and Salesforce, among others.

Industry observers have particularly noted the recent addition of Daniel Mitz in the Bay Area and the team in Dallas, with Mergermarket commenting that Shearman & Sterling “bolstered its Dallas-based M&A practice with the appointment of partners Alain Dermarkar, Robert Cardone, Scott Cohen and Nathan Meredith.”
